Compton HS Basketball Star Donates $40,000

You have to love a story like this, truly inspiring.

Allen Guei, a standout basketball player at Compton High School won a free throw competition sponsored Court Crandall (screen writer for the movie Old School) where eight students from Compton H.S. were randomly selected to participate in the free throw competition. The only requirement was that the students had to have a 3.0 GPA. The prize for competition was $40,000.

In the end, Allen won the competition but because of his great character, everyone ended up winning. Three months after the competition, Allen decided that since he received a basketball scholarship to Cal-State Northridge he would split the $40,000 among the seven finalists.
